The Proven Program

Learn about 19 Blocks

The Fisher Rebuilding Seminar was first created in the 1970s by Dr. Bruce Fisher. As he worked privately with people he realized that modern therapeutic methods weren't sufficient. So he began studying the issues to understand what people needed and what information and strategies actually worked.

He eventually simplified the issues into 19 steps for people to work through. Then, he organized them into a logical flow that anyone can follow.

The 19 Rebuilding Blocks

The Rebuilding Blocks provide a structured path for healing after the end of a significant relationship. Each block focuses on a key area of growth, helping participants move from loss to renewal.

Healing the Past

Denial, Fear, Grief, Anger, Loneliness, Guilt/Rejection

This stage focuses on recognizing and processing the emotions tied to loss.

It helps participants release painful attachments and begin healing from the inside out.

Building the Self

Self-Worth, Trust, Adaptation, Letting Go, Love

This stage rebuilds confidence, self-identity, and the ability to choose healthier patterns.

It emphasizes inner strength and personal growth.

Connecting with Others

Friendship, Relatedness, Openness, Sexuality, Singleness

This stage restores the ability to form supportive relationships, set boundaries, and rediscover intimacy in healthy ways.

Looking Forward

Transition, Purpose, Freedom

This final stage shifts focus toward creating a meaningful future. It highlights renewal, direction, and the peace that comes with freedom.

How the Rebuilding Program Differs from Traditional Therapy

Rebuilding Program

  • Structured 10-week or seminar-based model

  • Step-by-step framework: the 19 Rebuilding Blocks

  • Group learning environment with shared support

  • Educational + therapeutic blend (tools, exercises, discussions)

  • Research-based (Fisher Divorce Adjustment Scale)

  • Focused on moving from grief to freedom

Traditional Therapy

  • Often open-ended with no set timeline

  • One-on-one sessions, focused on individual needs

  • Less structured, varies by therapist’s approach

  • Emphasis on processing emotions without a defined roadmap

  • May or may not use research-based divorce-specific tools

  • Focused on coping rather than structured rebuilding

Clinical Outcomes & Research

The Fisher Rebuilding Program is grounded in decades of clinical research and measurable results. Dr. Bruce Fisher’s work has provided one of the most widely recognized frameworks for divorce recovery worldwide.

  • Graduates consistently report greater resilience, renewed purpose, and stronger relationships after completion.

Research Foundation

  • Based on over 40 years of research and program delivery.

  • Validated by thousands of participants across multiple countries.

  • The FDAS is a widely cited tool in academic and clinical studies on divorce recovery.

  • Program outcomes have been studied in community, clinical, and international contexts, confirming its adaptability and effectiveness.
